A agricultural fair was held in Haryana recently. More than 83000 farmers from various states including Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh participated in it. The thing that attracted attention to this fair was the big-sized vegetables. In the fair, ten kg turnip, big onion, ten kg of kaddu, six to seven feet gourd and sugarcane juice kulfi were presented. Apart from this, garlic, Kinnu’s variety, guava were also there.

The Kisan Mela was held at Chaudhary Charan Singh Agricultural University in Haryana. In the program, Lala Lajpat Rai Vice Chancellor of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (Luvas), Prof. Naresh Jindal was the chief guest. The inauguration of the fair was Vice Chancellor Prof. BR Kamboj was done and honored the ‘farmers aware farmers’.

Birendra, a farmer of Chamar Kheda, had arrived with an eight -foot spinach, he prepared the desi variety in his field. The farmer of Ratia has removed the advanced seed of onion. The specialty of this onion seed is that it produces a large size of onion. Eating is sweet, these onion seeds are providing to other farmers. Manpal has prepared desi green gourd and ten kilos of Kaddu, the taste of gourd and pumpkin is very good. The native pumpkin makes taste like halwa.

Rishi Pal, a farmer of Nuvashyam, told that he has prepared a desi turnip, whose weight is ten kg. The farmer said that he prepares seeds from a large turnout. Later, he gives it to the animals for fodder. Rajasthan Ganganagar village Chak Krishna Swamy told that he is doing farming with country seeds. They prepare gourd seeds in their fields. The length of their gourd goes from six to seven feet.

Vice Chancellor Prof. BR Kamboj said that agricultural entrepreneurship is a process of starting a new business in agriculture. Agricultural entrepreneurship can prove to be effective in strengthening the rural economy. He said that there is immense possibilities of entrepreneurship for the youth in the agriculture sector. Farmers can strengthen their economic condition by adopting agricultural entrepreneurship along with farming.

In the agricultural sector, young farmers are setting up self -employment in mushroom production, beekeeping, vermi composting, vegetable production, horticulture, fodder production, cylinder making, nursery, seed production, fisheries and bakery. He called upon farmers to adopt advanced farming methods to earn more profits as well as to process the product, promote price, and also pay attention to servicing, packing and branding.

The Vice Chancellor informed that the Agri-business incubation center established in the university provides grants ranging from Rs 4 to 25 lakh to students, entrepreneurs, farmers and women for startups on new agricultural ideas.

So far 250 incubation has been trained and supported in this university. Under this, more than Rs 8 crore has been given to start 65 best incubation. He informed that the objective of the University’s Agri Business Incubation Center is to attract the youth towards entrepreneurship. He informed that by getting training and grant through this center, the youth have not only established their own employment but have also provided employment to many unemployed.

Director of Education Dr. Balwan Singh Mandal said that farmers should buy certified and recommended seeds of Kharif crops and vegetables worth about Rs 43.06 lakh and buy seeds of fruitful plants and vegetables worth about Rs 3 lakh 50 thousand. Apart from seeds, farmers also bought bio -fertilizer of Rs 12580 and agricultural literature of Rs 45 thousand. Taking advantage of soil and water check service in the agricultural fair, 372 samples of soil and water were examined.

Joint Director Extension Dr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that agricultural-industrial exhibition organized in the fair was a special center of farmers’ attraction. A total of 258 stalls were set up in this exhibition. Promoting advanced variety seeds, latest technology, agricultural equipment, integrated farming system and enthusiasm in the agricultural sector was the main attraction of the fair. On the last day of the fair, there was a huge gathering of farmers at seed sales centers and stalls. In addition to the dialogue between farmers and scientists during the quiz session, there was a detailed discussion on promoting entrepreneurship in agriculture.

Excellent performing stalls honored

  • Among the stalls, the seed group stood in the seed group, IFSA CIDS/Samag Seeds II and Ankur Seeds/Shriram Biocid Genetics third.
  • In the insecticides and Pesticides Group, Crystal Crop Protection stood first, Bayer Crop Science Second and Tacove Pharma third.
  • Yara Fertilizer, IFFCO Hisar and DCM Shriram Fertilizers finished first, second and third respectively in the fertilizer group.
  • In the machinery and tractor groups, Kartar tractor/rainbow bath, Guru Kripa Mechanical Works and Param Agro Industries/Do Sardar Agri Works finished first, second and third respectively.
  • In the Progressive Farmers Group, Subhash Kamboj/Abic Bakery, Desi Seed Bank Great and Ranjit and Jagat Kakkar finished first, second and third respectively.
  • Similarly, the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding of Haryana Agricultural University, Community Science and Agri Tourism/Abic Startups got first, second and third prizes respectively.
  • Luvas stood first and MHU in second place in the government department category. In the diverse group, organic greenery, Shri Krishna Gaushala Kabreel/Balaji Agro Industries and Hisar Jind Cooperative Milk Products finished first, second and third place.
