Superintendent of Varanasi District Jail Umesh Kumar Singh has been made serious allegations of mental and physical harassment by the daughter of Deputy Jailor Meena Kanaujia. Meena Kanaujia’s daughter, Neha Shah has lodged a complaint at Lalpur Pandeypur police station. Neha alleges that Umesh Singh constantly tortured her mother, uttered caste words and mentally disturbed.

Neha Shah said, “The police have assured that they will discuss with senior officials and decide to register an FIR within a day.”

Jail Superintendent transferred and video viral
There was a further stir in this case when a video of deputy jailer Meena Kanaujia went viral on social media, in which he made serious allegations against Umesh Singh. After this, the jail administration transferred Umesh Singh to Sonbhadra District Jail, while Meena Kanaujia was sent to Naini District Jail.

What are the allegations?
According to Neha Shah, Umesh Singh pressured her mother to call her office and home again and again. Not only this, he also put pressure on women prisoners to incite wrong things. Neha alleged, “When my mother opposed it, she threatened that she would ruin her career, harm our family and kill her life. ‘

It was also said in the complaint that Umesh Singh has done similar acts in the past. Neha claimed, ‘She had done the same with the first deputy jailer Ratan Priya. You can ask them.

Allegations of corruption and intoxication business
Neha Shah also accused Umesh Singh of promoting corruption and drug trade in jail. He said, ‘Recently a video went viral, in which drugs were being sold inside the jail. This video was real, but no action was taken due to the influence of Umesh Singh.

In the order issued on March 18, Director General of Jail PV Ramasastri directed Umesh Singh to send it to special duty in Sonbhadra. However, they will not get any additional salary or allowance for this duty. According to the order, this appointment is temporary and will remain effective till the next instruction. Police is investigating this matter.
