The AMU administration gave the students permission to play Holi on 13 and 14 March. The AMU administration has arranged to play Holi for Hindu students studying in university at NRSC Club. Also, students of Nagaland and Mizoram, the state of North East, are also celebrating Holi in the NRSC club.

However, Hindu students of AMU demanded to play Holi on 9 March, but they were allowed on 13 and 14 March. Because most of the students go to their home for Holi, yet the students present in the university celebrated this opportunity with full enthusiasm.

Students struggle and victory
Students said that this was not an easy fight. After continuous talks and protests for 12 days, the university administration had to bow down to the ‘justified’ demands of the students. Initially, the administration refused to allow Holi to play Holi, calling it a ‘new tradition’, but due to the unity and efforts of the students, the university allowed Holi for the first time.

Students say that this Holi ceremony has given a positive message to the whole country. One student said, “Today, the whole country is getting a message that a mini India is seen here. Holi is a festival of brotherhood and unity, and we are proud that we started this tradition.”

Atmosphere of happiness and enthusiasm
A local student, Devansh, who lives on campus daily, said, “I feel very good that I can celebrate Holi with my friends. This festival gives a chance to meet and connect with each other, not just in the house, but also.”

Another student said, “The identity of our country is its diversity and unity. The festival of Holi is a symbol of not only colors, but also brotherhood and reconciliation. It is very happy that this year we got a chance to convince it.”

Further expectations
The students described this initiative as a new beginning and hoped that this event would be even more grand in the coming years.
“Next year we want the sound system to be better, and our Muslim brothers also join this celebration with us. Celebrating festivals together increases mutual brotherhood and strength.”

Akhly Kaushal, a student of AMU masters, had said that Hindu students wrote a letter to Vice Chancellor (AMU VC) on 25 February, seeking permission to organize Holi Milan ceremony at NRSC Club of AMU on 9 March. A meeting of Professor Dean was also called in Vice Chancellor, but after the meeting, the Holi Milan ceremony was not allowed. However, later the university gave the students permission not only to celebrate Holi in the NRSC Club.
