The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended UP Invest’s CEO and IAS officer Abhishek Prakash on charges of corruption. He has been accused of demanding 5% commission from a company called Sael Solar P6 Private Limited. This action has been taken after investigation on the complaint of the representative of the company.

In fact, Vishwajit Dutta, a representative of Sael Solar P6 Private Limited, had complained on March 20 that he wants to set up a factory to build solar cell, solar panel and solar plant in Uttar Pradesh. For this, the company had applied for the Letter of Comfort (LOC) under the UP Invest, but due to non-payment of commission, their file was repeatedly postponed.

The complainant alleged that IAS Abhishek Prakash asked him to meet Nikant Jain and made it clear that if Jain would give consent, then there would be recommendation. When Vishwajit Dutta met Nikant Jain, he demanded a 5% commission. Although in the assessment committee meeting held on 12 March 2025, the company was recommended to release the LOC, but Abhishek Prakash ordered it to re-evaluate it again.

CM Yogi had ordered an inquiry

When the matter came to the notice of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he ordered the entire letter and ordered an inquiry. The investigation confirmed the disturbances after the date -wise comments on the file and interrogation of the officials. After investigation, an FIR was lodged against Nikant Jain at Gomti Nagar police station in Lucknow on the complaint of Vishwajit Dutta. Police arrested Nikant Jain and sent him to jail.

At the same time, the Chief Minister, taking a tough decision, suspended IAS Abhishek Prakash with immediate effect and ordered strict departmental action against him. The Uttar Pradesh government has clarified that corruption will not be tolerated.
