‘No problem with military campaigns’, CM Ali Amin Gandapur of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on terror attacks
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that the provincial government will not allow any military campaign by the security forces, as the number of terrorists being killed here, the more they are coming from Afghanistan. In an interview given to a private TV channel, Gandapur said that 9,500 to 11,500 terrorists have infiltrated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so far, while double -number of terrorists may exist across the border.
He insisted that the military campaign is not a solution to this problem and it can be solved only through dialogue and diplomacy. Gandapur called the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting held two days ago as a presentation in which no concrete discussion took place. He said that if terrorism could be eliminated only with meetings and statements, then it would have been over.
Demand for release of Imran Khan
Gandapur said that without the release of Imran Khan, there can be no concrete progress on security issues. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been in jail in several cases since August 2023. He said that there was no discussion on Imran Khan in the meeting, while this matter is related to national politics and security.
“Rethinking the policy of good and bad Taliban is necessary”
Gandapur admitted that ‘good Taliban’ still exists in the province, while bad Taliban is attacking. He said that the recent attack on Bannu Cantonment was carried out by the ‘Bad Taliban’, whereas earlier they were considered ‘good Taliban’.
He revealed that Hafiz Gul Bahadur and Noor Wali Mehsud were first considered ‘good Taliban’, but now they have become ‘bad Taliban’. Gandapur said that we have to review our Taliban policy. He also said that those who have come under the shelter of the Taliban government should not be punished, but should hop that they will help in our fight against terrorism.
Bannu Cantonment attack – 16 attackers killed
On March 4, 12 people died in a suicide attack in Bannu Cantonment, Pakistan, including four children. More than 30 people were injured in this attack. According to the police, vehicles filled with two explosives collided with the cantonment wall, after which security forces killed 16 attackers in retaliation.
Jaish al-Faisan, an organization associated with Hafiz Gul Bahadur, has taken responsibility for this attack. This organization is one of the many groups of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
PTI cleaning on incidents of 9 May
For the first time, Gandapur admitted that the attacks on military establishments on 9 May 2023 were against the official policy of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). However, he also said that PTI activists who violated the law did not make such a big mistake that they had to face trial in military courts.
Afghan government rejected Pakistani claims
Gandapur said that Afghan refugees should be sent back to their country under appropriate process, not forcibly evacuated. He also suggested that the Afghans should be given citizenship of Pakistan, as it can bring an investment of $ 3 to 4 billion in the country.
Pakistani officials say that the conspiracies of terrorist attacks in the country are being hatched on the land of Afghanistan. However, the Taliban -led Afghan government has dismissed the allegations, saying that Pakistan should not hold them responsible for its security failures.
