Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has openly opposed the policies of the Pakistan Army and the government. CM Gandapur has said that he will no longer allow the Pakistan Army to have any kind of military operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, leader of Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI), has also given the reason for his decision. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that more terrorists enter Pakistan from Afghanistan than the terrorists killing the Pakistani army.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Gandapur said that his government will not allow the army to run any kind of military operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Because the more terrorists are killed, the more the border from Afghanistan, Khyber enters Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The more terrorists die more than the Afghan

Gandapur said that it is estimated that 9,500 to 11,500 terrorists have already entered their areas, while it may have double terrorists across the border. He directly questioned the policies of the Government of Pakistan and the Pak Army, saying, “The security problem that Pakistan is facing today is not an operation.”

He said that if the people stand with him and their intentions are clear then they will be able to deal with the situation.

The Chief Minister further said that the meeting of the National Security Committee held two days ago was a presentation of more facts than the discussion.

Imran’s party from the army and government

This statement of Chief Minister Gandapur is also a part of the ongoing tension with Pakistan’s federal (central) government and military leadership. The relationship between PTI and the army has been strong since Imran Khan’s government fell in 2022.

Gandapur is using this opportunity to question the policies of the Center and the role of the army.

Questioning the policies of the Government of Pakistan, CM Gandapur said that if terrorism could be abolished only through presentations and statements, it would have happened by now. He emphasized that the force is not used to solve this issue, but the conversation is important. CM Gandapur said that there was no discussion about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Security Committee meeting.

Gandapur said that Imran Khan should be released from jail for progress on security issues. Khan has been in jail in several cases since August 2023.

Pakistan officials have repeatedly claimed that the plot of attacks in the country is hatched on the land of Afghanistan.

However, the Taliban -led Afghanistan government denied the claim that it is not responsible for Pakistan’s “security failure”.

Good Taliban-Bad Taliban affair

Chief Minister Gandapur, while answering another question, said that his state still has “good Taliban”, while Bannu Cantonment was attacked by “Burd Taliban” earlier this month, which was once considered a “good Taliban”.

He further explained that Hafiz Gul Bahadar and Noor Wali Mehsud were the first “good Taliban”, but now they have become “bad Taliban”. He said, “We have to review our policy about the Taliban.”

He further said that “good Taliban are those who surrender to the government, so they should not be punished. Rather we should expect that they will win this war against terror for us.”

Significantly, the concept of good and bad Taliban was developed in 2008 during the tenure of the Awami National Party (ANP) government at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Army interferes with the rights of dryness

Gandapur and his party Tehreek-e-Insaf emphasize the autonomy of the Subon. He argues that the security of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the responsibility of law and order should be the provincial government and the police, not the army. They consider the intervention of the army to be interfering in the rights of the province.

He also said that when he became the Chief Minister, the police had complained that the presence of the army hinders his action.

Gandapur believes that large -scale military operations are not a permanent solution to terrorism. They advocate intelligence-based operations and local police instead. He says that targeted operations are already underway and will be continued, but full military campaign is not needed.
