The Supreme Court has started the process to investigate the allegations against Justice Yashwant Verma. First of all, a report is being sought from the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court on this whole matter. According to law experts, if a High Court judge is accused of misconduct, then a report is first sought from the Chief Justice of the concerned High Court.

The same process went on in the case of several judges including Allahabad High Court Judge Justice Shekhar Yadav and former judge of Calcutta High Court Justice Kannan. If the allegations are against the judge of the Supreme Court, then the in-house committee is directly formed on the initiative of the CJI.

What is the whole matter?

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of Delhi High Court Judge Justice Yashwant Verma. The reason behind this is that there was a fire in Justice Yashwant Verma’s government bungalow, which the team that went to extinguish got a huge amount of cash there. After this, the collegium of three senior -most judges led by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna has recommended Justice Verma to send him back to his original High Court i.e. Allahabad High Court.

There was a stir after getting a huge amount of cash. After receiving the information of the case, the Supreme Court Collegium, led by CJI Sanjeev Khanna, has decided to transfer him to the Allahabad High Court again.

Allahabad High Court will return

According to sources, Justice Verma was not in the city when the fire broke out. His family members called the fire brigade and the police. After extinguishing the fire, fire personnel found a huge amount of cash inside the bungalow rooms.

After this, the official record of recovery of unaccounted cash was recorded in the record book. CJI was informed about the incident, after which it was recommended to send him to Allahabad in the collegium meeting.

Emergency meeting

The Supreme Court Collegium held an emergency meeting to recommend the transfer of the High Court judge and the transfer was recommended in it. According to sources, an emergency collegium meeting was called on Thursday after the report against the judge. In-house investigation is also being considered. No decision has been taken yet. According to sources, the proposal related to the transfer has not been deliberately uploaded.

In addition to transfer will be investigated

Justice Yashwant Verma was sent from Allahabad to Delhi High Court in October 2021. Now, with the recommendation to send them back, there is talk of conducting the process of investigation and impeachment against them. Some members of the Supreme Court collegium expressed concern over this whole incident and said that if Justice Verma is only transferred, then the image of the judiciary will be tarnished.
