1: New system for slowover rate …
In IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025, new arrangements have been made for slowover rate. In the earlier arrangement, the captain of the team was banned for slowover rate.
Now the captains in the IPL will not be banned for slow over rate. Now their demerit marks will be cut instead. This decision was taken at a meeting of captains in Mumbai on Thursday. The move has been taken in the previous phase after a match ban on Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya and Delhi Capital captain Rishabh Pant for a third time for a slow over speed.
Hardik will not be able to play the first match of the 2025 phase against Chennai Super Kings due to this ban. A source of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) said- 25 to 75 percent match fees will be deducted with demerit points from the violation of Level one. Which will be calculated for the next three years. If the violation of Level two is serious, four demerit marks will be received.

2: Ban removed from the use of saliva
The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday lifted the ban from the use of saliva (saliva) on the ball in the upcoming session after the consent of most captains of the Indian Premier League (IPL). During the ICC Champions Trophy, India’s veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami had said that there is a need to put saliva on the ball or else it will be completely in favor of the batsmen. It was also supported by Vernon Philander of South Africa and Tim Southee of New Zealand.
This decision was taken in the meeting of captains in Mumbai. The International Cricket Council (ICC) banned the centuries-old practice of saliva to shine the ball during the Kovid-19 epidemic and later in 2022 the world institution made the ban permanent. The BCCI had already discussed this internal and the captains had to take a decision, so the captains decided to continue the use of saliva in this session of IPL.
3: Second ball will be used in IPL
In order to combat the effect of dew in night matches, IPL is bringing a new important rule in 2025- ‘Second ball’. Dews often obstruct the bowlers’ ability to catch the ball, which provides unfair advantage to the batsmen, especially during the run chase. In view of this, the umpire will assess the position of the ball after the 11th over of the second innings. If excessive dew is detected, the bowling team will be allowed to use a new ball. However, this rule will not apply to afternoon matches.
4: Impact Player Rule
The Impact Player Rules will remain in the IPL this time too. The rule, which started in the last few season, will continue in IPL 2025 as well. This rule allows teams to substitute a player during a match, which gives more opportunities to unkapped players who do not get a chance to play most. Impact Player Rules will be reviewed after 2027 edition
5: DRS for wide and height balls
The DRS decision review system (DRS) for height and off-side wide will now include referrals for wide outside no-ball and off stump based on height. The use of Hawk-I technology and ball tracking will provide additional assistance to the umpires in making accurate decisions.
6: Player Ripless Rule
The player who is going to change (Ripless) cannot return to play for his team throughout the session. Substitute contract can be done only when the team sends all the relevant documents to the BCCI and wait for their permission. Substitute players can be contract only after the year’s auction is completed.
In a message sent to the teams, the BCCI has clarified the circumstances when partial replacement is allowed and has also said to create a pool called RAPP (Registered Awailable Player Pool). The franchise can only take players from RAPP for replacement. The concept of RAPP is also clearly defined.
