The body of a nine -year -old girl was found in a relief camp in Churachandpur district of Manipur early Friday, who allegedly had marks of sexual harassment on her body. This district is the center of long -running ethnic conflict between Kuki and Maetai communities.

According to the police, the minor was missing since Thursday evening, after which his family and the residents of the camp started a search operation. His body was found around midnight, on which there were bruises.

Murdered after sexual harassment?

The girl had a rope around her neck and blood stains. Family members claimed that these scars point to sexual harassment, although the police told Aaj Tak that there would be confirmation after the post -mortem.

An official said that the body has been kept in the mortuary and a post -mortem will be done on Saturday to confirm the allegations. Police said, “Yes, it is suspected of murder, but confirmation will be tomorrow.” He said that an FIR has been registered under the Poxo Act and the police have registered a case and started investigation.

Former Chief Minister N Biren Singh condemned the incident and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. He said that I strongly condemn the heinous murder of the girl by criminals.
