In Bati village of Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, there was a dispute between two sides on the day of Holi, in which there was a fight and stone pelting. In this case, the police has registered a case against 42 people.
The incident is from Bati village of Jant police station area, where Dhuladi (day to play Holi) is accused of some youths that they tried to forcibly put color on the people of the Scheduled Castes (Dalit) community. On opposing this, a debate started on both sides, which later turned into a quarrel. During this time, lathi-sticks went and stoned, which injured about a dozen people.
After the dispute, the police registered a case against 32 Dalits and arrested nine people and sent them to jail. In protest, Dalit organizations staged a sit -in at the collectorate on Friday and demanded to register an FIR from their side as well.
Case against 42 people
Circle Officer (Sadar) Sandeep Kumar Singh said that on the complaint of a woman on Friday, a case has been registered against 42 people under the sections of the Code of India (BNS) and SC/ST Act. The police is collecting evidence related to the case and further investigation is on. At present, the situation in the area remains normal.
