The notorious gangster and drug mafia Jaggu Bhagwanpuria has been detained under the anti -narcotic law on Sunday. He has been sent from Bathinda Jail in Punjab to Assam jail. He was also accused of involvement in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Mouswala. Narcotics Control Bureau An official said that the gangster has been arrested under the PIT-NDPS Act.

The gangster Bhagwanpuria, who was in jail in Bathinda, was taken to the Central Jail of Silchar, Assam by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in collaboration with the Punjab Police. NCB officials detained the gangster in custody of Punjab Police in connection with the Mouswala murder case and took him from Chandigarh to Silchar via Delhi and Kolkata. Jagdeep Singh aka Jaggu Bhagwanpuria is a resident of Gurdaspur district.

Investigations are underway against gangster Bhagwanpuria in 128 criminal cases. This includes a dozen cases registered under high-profile murder cases, forced recovery cases, Arms Act and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act. He is involved in 128 cases. There is also a case of murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Mosewala. He has been involved in smuggling heroin, opium, and illegal weapons.

According to NCB, the gangster Bhagwanpuria was repeatedly using mobile phones to carry out criminal activities from within the high security jails of Punjab. He had established relations with international operatives in Canada, America and Pakistan. It was necessary to send it out of Punjab to disrupt the ecosystem that facilitates continuous criminal activities.

The PIT-NDPS Act of 1988 has a provision to detain persons related to the illegal trade of drugs and mental substances for one or two years in any way. They can be prevented from being involved in such harmful and prejudicial activities. Earlier, criminals like Balwinder Singh alias Billa Havilion, Akshay Chhabra and Jaspal Singh alias Goldie have also been sent to Assam.

Balwinder Singh alias Billa has been an active criminal since 1992. He has deep relations with the cross -border cross -smuggling network operated from Pakistan. He was detained on August 12, 2024 under the PIT-NDPS Act at Dibrugarh Central Jail (Assam). This was done with the aim of separating his prison -based criminal network and destroying the organized crime conducted by him.
