Congress leader and Leader of Lok Sabha Leader Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship case is going to be a significant hearing in the Lucknow bench of the High Court on Monday. Earlier, the Deputy Solicitor General had sought 8 weeks to file a reply from the central government.
The hearing will be held today in the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court to file a reply on behalf of the central government. The Lucknow bench of the High Court had asked the Government of India to make a decision on the citizenship of Rahul Gandhi to make them aware of the court, on which in the last hearing from the Deputy Solicitor General, it was asked that it will take 8 weeks to take a decision in this matter.

The petition was filed on the basis of the claim that Rahul Gandhi is a citizen of India as well as Britain, in such a situation that he is ineligible to contest elections under Article 84 (A) of the Constitution. According to a petition filed by Karnataka social activist S Vignesh Shishir, Rahul Gandhi is a British citizen. Therefore, their cremation should be canceled.
