After the BJP MLA in Delhi demanded a ban on meat shops during Navratri, this demand has now started rising from Dharmanagri Varanasi. In Varanasi, Maa Shringar Gauri and in the Gyanvapi case, women and advocates of the Hindu side have requested the district administration to completely close meat and fish shops during Navratri.

The members of the Sangh have said in a letter submitted to the administration that Kashi is a sacred site and worship of Shakti in Shiva’s city during Chaitra Navratri has special significance. In such a situation, the sale of meat and fish is contrary to this religious sentiments.
