Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a conversation with American Podcaster Lex Freedman discussed the early days of his life. During this, PM Modi said that my life was spent in extreme poverty. But we never felt the burden of poverty. Because the person who wears good shoes does not have shoes, then he feels that this is lacking, but we had never worn shoes in life. So what did we know that wearing shoes is also a very big thing. We were not in a condition to compare, my mother used to work very hard. My father used to work very hard.
PM Modi said that my father was very disciplined, he used to leave the house every morning at around 4 or 4:30 in the morning, after traveling long distances, he used to go to many temples and then reached his shop. The Prime Minister said that my father used to wear traditional leather shoes, which used to be made by hand in the village, they were very rigid, while walking, the sound of tuck-taks used to come from those shoes, when my father used to go to the shop, the people of the village used to say that we used to guess the time after hearing the voice of their steps that yes, Damodar Bhai is going. It was his discipline that he used to work without tired till late night.

He said that when I talk about my family, my family used to live together in my family, father, mother, siblings, my uncle-aunt, grandparents. ‘I never had a question of wearing shoes in school’
Prime Minister Modi said during the conversation that I remember that there was no question of I ever wearing shoes in school. Was going to school in one day, my maternal uncle met on the way. He said ‘Hey! You go to school like this, there is no shoes’. So at that time he bought canvas shoes and put me on. Then their price will be 10-12 rupees. Those shoes were of canvas, he used to get stained, so I used to do that when school was discharged in the evening, I used to stay in school for a while. And the teacher who used to throw their pieces using the chalkstick used to collect them and bring them home. By soaking those chocolast pieces, polishing and applying it on the canvas shoes, he used to make shiny white. The same property was for me.
