The cleric, who has told the criminal of cricketer Mohammed Shami not keeping Rosa during Ramadan, has now described the fast bowler’s daughter to celebrate Holi as ‘illegal’ and ‘against’ Sharia. In a video released late on Saturday night, Maulana Shahabuddin Rajvi, president of All India Muslim Jamaat, said, “She is a little girl. If she plays Holi without understanding, it is not a crime. If she is sensible and still plays Holi, it will be considered against Sharia.”

Rajvi said that he had earlier advised Shami to follow the principles of Islam. Despite this, a video of his daughter celebrating Holi was released. He said, “I have appealed to Shami and his family members. Whatever is not in the Sharia, do not let it do to your children. Holi is a big festival for Hindus, but Muslims should not celebrate Holi. If someone celebrates Holi even after knowing the Sharia, then it is a crime.”

He also congratulated the Indian cricket team for the recently won in the ICC Champions Trophy. He said, “I heartily congratulate Team India captain, all the players and Mohammed Shami for his success.”

Earlier this month, Rajvi had said that Shami has committed sin by not keeping fasting during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. In Saturday’s video message, he suggested that those who cannot fast, including Shami, should keep fasting after Ramadan. Rajvi also instructed Shami to urge her family members not to insult Sharia.

Let me tell you that after seeing Shami drinking a drink from the bottle during the match against Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy on 6 March, Maulvi said, “He is a criminal in the eyes of Sharia. He should not have done so at all.”

He also advised Shami to follow the rules of Sharia. Rajvi had said, “It is the responsibility of all Muslims to follow the rules of Sharia. It is mandatory to keep fast in Islam. If a person does not deliberately fasten, then he is considered a sinner according to Islamic law. It is not bad to play cricket, but Mohammad Shami should fulfill his religious responsibilities. I advise Shami to follow Shami and be responsible for his religion.”
