For the last few months in India, bulldozers have become synonymous with action action on criminals. Bulldozer action is often being used as a judicial penalty against the accused. Last week, several demolition notices were sent to homes, a mosque and cemetery in case of alleged sexual harassment and forced conversation of minor girls in Beawar, Rajasthan, which was termed by local law enforcement and Hindutva organizations termed as ‘love jihad’. After Hinduist groups demanded ‘bulldozer action’, parts of the house of an accused were demolished before the Rajasthan High Court banned further sabotage.
The same week, the Municipal Corporation demolished the junk shop of a Muslim person in Malvan, Maharashtra, as a worker of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad had alleged that the shop owner’s son had raised the slogan of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ after the Bharat vs Pakistan Champions Trophy match. Another shop of the boy’s uncle was also demolished and the vehicle used by the family for his junk business was also demolished.
Action in Nagpur and Mumbai
Government agencies took action in two cities of Maharashtra on Monday. The first action is in Khar, Mumbai, where there is a studio named Habitat in which comedian Kunal Kamra did her show. Whose video went viral. In this video, Kamra made sharp comments on Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.
The second action has taken place in Nagpur. Where the allegations of Nagpur violence Faheem Khan’s two -storey building has been broken by the squad of Nagpur Corporation. Nagpur Corporation accused Faheem Khan of irregularities in the construction of this building.

However, the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court has banned the demolition of the properties of petitioners including Faheem Khan and Yusuf Sheikh in an important decision. The High Court has expressed concern over the demolition action taken without giving a chance to hear the owners of the property without fault. Faheem Khan’s property had already been broken without hearing, which happened just before the court order.
The court has directed the government and the municipality officials to file the reply and the next hearing of the case will be held on April 15.
Bulldozer Action in Ahmedabad
In the last few days, the Ahmedabad Police has prepared a list of 1481 miscreants, liquor smugglers and gamblers, clamping down on criminals. According to Police Commissioner GS Malik, 353 criminals have been called to the crime branch and they have been given strict warnings to leave the crime, otherwise strict action will be taken.
The DGP of Gujarat ordered to make a list of criminals within 100 hours across the state and take strict action on them. After this, continuous combing operations and patrolling are being done in Ahmedabad. Police is also running bulldozers on illegal properties of criminals. Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik said that the list prepared by the police includes 303 liquor smugglers, 21 gamblers, 687 criminals involved in body -related crimes, 424 property criminals and 46 NDPS (narcotics) criminals. Many of these criminals have been given dice (Preventive Detention Act of Gujarat Police) and Tadipar (District Badar).

The Ahmedabad police, along with the Municipal Corporation, is now demolishing the illegal properties of criminals. The police commissioner said that the list of criminals is being prepared and given to the corporation, and bulldozer action will continue.
Bulldozer action against farmers in Punjab
The Punjab government suddenly took a strict attitude on the farmers on 19 March. The Punjab Police came into action on the agitation that has been going on for more than a year on Shambhu-Khanuri border and destroyed the farmers’ bases with bulldozers. This action took place when the seventh round of talks took place between the central government, the Punjab government and the farmer organizations in Chandigarh. After the action taken by the police, the farmers were further enraged.
Bulldozer action in UP
Bulldozer action is going on to remove illegal colonies and encroachments in Uttar Pradesh. The Basti Development Authority identified about 17 colonies. Meanwhile, SP President Akhilesh Yadav has shared a video on social media, taunting bulldozer action. In the video, bulldozers are seen walking on huts in a colony. What did the Supreme Court say on bulldozer action?
In November 2024, the Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled it on bulldozer action, calling it a violation of the law. The court had said that it is not right to break the house even after being accused or convicted in any case. The court had said that we have considered the suggestions of experts. We have ordered after listening to all the parties. It is important that the law should be ruled. Bulldozer action cannot be biased. Compensation should be received for wrongly breaking the house.
The Supreme Court had issued several guidelines while giving the verdict on its bulldozer action. The court had said that now the administration will have to ensure that the structure can be taken or not before taking bulldozers at some place.
