The court of Mainpuri has ruled on Tuesday in the massacre case in Dihuli in Dihuli in district Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. The court sentenced the three convicts involved in the murder to death after 44 years. On the evening of 18 November 1981, 17 armed miscreants killed 24 people with bullets and killed them. 13 of 17 accused killed

Dihuli village, located about 30 km from Firozabad district headquarters, was shocked by the sound of bullets that night. There were a total of 17 accused in this massacre, of which 13 have already died. In its judgment on March 11, the court convicted three people of murder, whose date was fixed for the announcement of sentence. Another accused involved in the murder case is still out of the police custody and has been declared a fugitive.

After the court’s decision, there is happiness among the victims’ families but they are also telling justice for it. The hand of the dacoit Santosh, Radhe and his gang was told behind this murder. According to the charge sheet, most of the accused who carried out this mass murder were from the forward caste. According to the police, the gang of Santosh-Radhe had earlier included a person named Kunwarpal who came from the Dalit community.

The reason for the massacre became a rivalry

Kunwarpal had a friendship with an upper caste woman and this thing was not tolerated by Santosh and Radhe coming from the forward caste. It was from here that the enmity between them started. Shortly thereafter, Kunwarpal was murdered under suspicious circumstances. Taking action on this, the police arrested two members of the Santosh-Radhe gang and recovered weapons.

The rest of the accused in Santosh, Radhe and Kunwarpal murder case suspected that the Dalits of the area were behind the arrest of their associates. The police also witnessed three people of the Dalit community after the murder. According to the police charge sheet, due to this enmity of the forward and backward castes, there was a massacre in Dihuli.

Four hours of firing firing

According to India Today, 14 members of the Santosh-Radhe gang reached Dihuli village of Dalits in police uniform and started firing. The firing, which started at 5 pm, lasted for four hours. The bullet had killed 23 people on the spot while one was declared dead in the hospital. By the time the police reached the spot, all the accused had escaped.

Vishwanath Pratap Singh was the Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh then. After this massacre, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi visited Dihuli village. The opposition had questioned the government after this murder. Then the Leader of the Opposition Babu Jagjivan Ram also visited this village. After the incident, people of Dalit society started migrating from Dihuli village. After this, senior officers of police and administration kept camping in the village for several months so that people feel security.

The bodies were sent after filling the trolley

Eyewitnesses told the BBC that the Santosh-Radhe gang had surrounded the entire Dalit locality, whoever appeared kept shooting. After this firing in the night, the bodies of the people were lying on the road and everyone was running around to save lives. Some people were injured in this stampede. The miscreants did not merry at anyone, men and women, and what came out killed him. The bodies of the deceased were filled in a tractor trolley and sent to Mainpuri on the second day. The matter was transferred to the sessions court of Allahabad in 1984 on the orders of the High Court. From 1984 to October 2024, there was a trial in the case. After this, the case was again transferred to the Mainpuri robbery court. On this, the Mainpuri court gave the verdict on March 11 and convicted three people, whose sentence has been announced on Tuesday.
