The Shiv Sena formed a government in Maharashtra in collaboration with NCP and Congress. Uddhav Thackeray became the Chief Minister. The Shiv Sena was divided after more than 40 Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde in June 2022 after revolting against the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray. The MLAs of Shinde faction accused Uddhav Thackeray of compromising the ideology of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
