The suspense has deepened in the case of cash at the official residence of Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Verma at the official residence in Lutyens Delhi. Questions are arising whether the cash was found in the house of Judge Yashwant Verma or not? The reason, now suspense has been increased due to the statement of the Fire Department Chief. In fact, the news agency PTI completely rejected the claims of getting cash from the fire department.
The agency had dismissed these claims from the statement of Atul Garg, the head of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), saying that firefighters did not get any cash while extinguishing the fire. But on the contrary, now fire officer Atul Garg has denied this statement. He clearly stated that the statement being run by the news agency PTI is not mine.
Earlier, the news agency had claimed that fire officer Garg said that on March 14 at 11:35 pm, the fire was reported at the residence of Lutyens Verma in Delhi, after which two fire engines were immediately sent on the spot. Firemen reached the spot by 11:43 pm. The fire was in a store room, where stationery and household items were kept. The fire was controlled in 15 minutes and there were no casualties.
The news agency had said through the officer, “Soon after extinguishing the fire, we informed the police about the incident. After that our team left from there. Our fire personnel did not get any cash while extinguishing the fire.”

Explain that in the media report, it was claimed that a large amount of cash was found after the fire in Justice Yashwant Verma’s bungalow. Allahabad High Court transfer was also added to Justice Verma’s Delhi High Court. However, the Supreme Court issued a statement, describing these two cases as different.
Chief Justice of Delhi HC started investigation
The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, has started a preliminary inquiry on the allegations of getting cash, under which a preliminary report has been sought from the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. The Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court will submit his investigation report to the Chief Justice of India (21 March 2025) today (21 March 2025). After this, further action will be taken after reviewing this report.
Investigation and transfer separate: Supreme Court
An official statement was issued by the Supreme Court. In this, the Supreme Court said that the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court had first started the investigation of the case related to Justice Yashwant Verma. The Supreme Court also clarified that many types of rumors and wrong information are being spread in this case, which need to be avoided.

The Supreme Court made it clear that the proposal for transfer of Justice Yashwant Verma is completely different and independent from the in-house investigation process. The Supreme Court underlined the fact that Justice Yashwant Verma is currently the second senior -most judge and member of the collegium in the Delhi High Court. But after the transfer to Allahabad High Court, his seniority will be reduced to ninth.
Justice Yashwant Verma’s career
56 -year -old Justice Yashwant Verma registered as an advocate in 1992. He was appointed Additional Judge of Allahabad High Court on 13 October 2014 and was sworn in as a permanent judge on 1 February 2016. He was born on 6 January 1969 in Allahabad. He did B.Com (Honors) from Hansraj College, University of Delhi and then obtained a LLB degree from Rewa University in Madhya Pradesh.
He practiced constitutional, labor and industrial laws as well as corporate laws, taxation and related laws in the Allahabad High Court. He was also a special lawyer of the High Court from 2006 and the major permanent advocate of the Uttar Pradesh government from 2012 to 2013. In 2013, he was nominated as a senior advocate.
