‘Elections should be held in Bangladesh as soon as possible …’, Khaleda Jia’s party demanded in front of Un Chief Antonio Guterres – Bangladesh Elections Features during UN Chafe Interactions With Politicians Stakeholders Ntc

Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s BNP told UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres on Saturday that she wants to hold elections in Bangladesh as soon as possible. Guterres are on a four -day visit to Bangladesh amid worrying speculation about the political trend of South Asian country. He attended a round table conference on reform proposals. The meeting was attended by representatives of political parties and various stakeholders including the National Consent Construction Commission. The National Consent Commission is headed by Muhammad Yunus, the head of the interim government.

Political leaders did not include Awami League and his colleagues in the meeting. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told the media out of the United Nations Chief’s Round Table meeting, “We (we want to give them the next national elections after completing the election -centric reforms only.”

Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP’s highest policy setting committee present with Alamgir, said that the United Nations believes that Bangladeshis should decide how and when there will be improvements and elections, because it is the internal matter of the country.

Let us tell you that BNP has emerged as the main political party of Bangladesh, after the nearly 16 -year -old Awami League government of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in violent demonstrations led by students on August 5 last year. Hasina came to India and most of her party leaders and her colleagues in the government were arrested or in Bangladesh’s International Crime Tribunal, they are fleeing in the country and abroad to avoid allegations like crime or mass murder against humanity.

On Friday, Younus told Guterres that if the political party wants the improvement package to be small, then national elections may be held in December 2025, but if they agree to the expansion of the package, the elections will be held by June next year. The 86 -year -old Yunus took over as the Chief of the Interim Administration on the call of the Students Against Description (SAD). This student forum was leading the campaign to remove Hasina’s rule on the road last year.

The SAD leadership has recently formed a political party called the National Citizen Party (NCP). One of its leaders, Nahid Islam said that the current law and order situation is not favorable for the elections to be held in December. Sarzis Alam, another NCP leader, recently said that no one should pronounce the word “election” until Hasina is brought back home and is not punished for crimes against humanity.

NCP leaders and interim government advisors also suggested that the local government elections should be held before the national elections, while the Constitution of Bangladesh should be re -written on a large scale or it should be abolished, so that the country can be declared a second republic as per the revolution of 2024.

Many political analysts and politicians estimated that Younus’s interim administration may extend their tenure to meet reforms, but they fear that this may bring the country in uncertainty as extremists or distant groups of extremities or distant groups have started to enter their strong presence in political scenario.

It is worth noting that more than 10 lakh Rohingya from Guterres Myanmar are visiting Bangladesh to assess the plight of refugees, whose future remains uncertain soon due to possible support cuts. On Friday, he visited the Cox Bazaar in South-Eastern Bangladesh to see the plight of Rohingyas in crowded temporary camps after being removed from his motherland in Rakhine state of Myanmar and said that the United Nations would make every effort to help prevent food ration cuts. He described Bangladesh, where thousands of Rohingya refugees live, were described as a crime in humanitarian aid by the United States and Europe countries.
