The Bombay High Court’s Nagpur bench has banned the demolition of the properties of the petitioners including Faheem Khan and Yusuf Sheikh in an important decision. The High Court has expressed concern over the demolition action taken without giving a chance to hear the owners of the property without fault. Faheem Khan’s property had already been broken without hearing, which happened just before the court order.

The court has directed the government and the municipality officials to file the reply and the next hearing of the case will be held on April 15. After this decision, there has been a stir in the city, because questions are being raised on the steps of the local administration.

NMC accused of illegally breaking the house

Yusuf’s brother, Ayaz Khan, has accused Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) of illegally breaking his house. Ayaz claims that he has all the valid documents and the action of sabotage has been done in a sense of revenge. He says, “This action has been taken with the intention of revenge. We have nothing to do with the riots. I am the owner of the property, which we have since 1970. We are the people who follow the law.”

Officials did not take documents by giving excuses for leave

Ayaz alleges that he was unfairly asked to go to the corporation office on a holiday and submit the documents. The officers refused to take the documents by making excuses for self-halide and issued a unilateral demolition order.
