UP ATS on Wednesday arrested an employee of Kanpur Ordnance Factory. The employee is accused of giving confidential and sensitive information to the Pakistani Intelligence Agency (ISI) agent through social media.

The ATS said in its statement that the accused has been identified as Kumar Vikas, who was working as a Junior Works Manager in the Kanpur Ordnance factory. Vikas was in touch with a suspected Pakistani agent, which he got in the name of ‘Neha Sharma’ on social media.

Investigation revealed that development was sending confidential documents and sensitive data related to the Ordnance Construction, Employees’ attendance sheet, machine layout and production chart through WhatsApp.

On 13 March, the ATS arrested Rabindra Kumar from Hazratpur, Firozabad for similar crimes, Ravindra Kumar. During interrogation, ATS officials came to know about development, which was in touch with the suspected Pakistani agent since January 2025.

Officials said that the Pakistani agent described himself as an employee of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and initially approached Vikas on Facebook. Later he exchanged mobile numbers and continued his communication on WhatsApp.

The statement said that to avoid being caught, he used Ludo Gaming App for secret conversation. It states that the grace of financial temptation was allegedly lured to give confidential information to development. At present, Vikas has been taken into custody and further legal proceedings are going on.
