Manipur: Worse situation in Churachandpur, violent clashes between Hamar and Jomi community, curfew applied – Manipur Violence Latest Update Churachandpur Hmar and Zomi Community NTC


Security has been increased due to the latest conflict between Hamar and Jomi communities in Churachandpur district of Manipur. The violence erupted when the flag of his community was hoisted by the Jomi group on the evening of March 18, which was opposed by our community. In this stressed situation, 53 -year -old Lalropui Pakhumate died, who have been identified as a resident of Seelmat Gillgalwang.

On the night of 16 March, there were attacks on our leader in Jeng, after which tension has increased. Due to this, curfew was implemented in the district. However, on Tuesday, there was a peace agreement between Hamar Impui Manipur and Jomi Council, yet the situation is not seen to improve.

Jomi Students Federation announced strike

Along with the curfew implemented by the district administration, Jomi Students Federation has announced an indefinite strike. Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S has issued a public appeal, which has been appealed to maintain peace and law and order. Security forces carried out a flag march around Churachandpur and are trying to calm the situation.

The leader of our community was attacked

The incident of attack on our leader Richard Hamar was prominent on March 17 behind this stressful situation. Our Empui Manipur and Jomi Council had decided to resolve the dispute about this through tribal traditional laws. Six MLAs of Churachandpur and Ferzhaval district have also appealed for peace at the district headquarters.

MLAs Paulinlal Haocip, N Sanate, LM Khaute, Wungjagin Walte, Chinalunthng and Letjamang Haocip have requested the state government to take necessary steps to bring the situation under control. He said that the incidents that took place in the past are a threat to peace and harmony in our society, which needs to be handled.
