MCD Floor Test Arvind Kejriwal – BJP’s demand for floor test in MCD is the next stop in Delhi politics against AAP – BJP eyes on MCD for Power after defaeting aap in delhi association opnm1
The results of the assembly elections have had a widespread impact on Delhi politics. After losing the throne of Delhi, the struggle of the Aam Aadmi Party has increased in MCD.
The BJP, which lost power in MCD three years ago, has become naturally active after forming a government in Delhi. Obviously, the encouragement has increased to the extent. And this is the reason why the BJP is now working on the strategy of establishing dominance in MCD.
The BJP claims that the Aam Aadmi Party has lost a majority in the MCD – and has been adamant on the demand for floor test in MCD to reach its claim.
BJP’s eye on MCD after Delhi government
On March 17, there was a huge uproar in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. As soon as the proceedings of the House started, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party started raising faster slogans from both sides. On seeing this, BJP councilors tore the agenda paper, and climbed on the table.
The Bharatiya Janata Party was demanding floor test in the House. In the MCD, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party has accused the opposition of killing the Constitution.
The BJP claims that the Aam Aadmi Party does not have a majority left in MCD. In the 2022 election, the Aam Aadmi Party got 134 out of 250 and BJP got 104 seats.
In fact, the situation has become very difficult after changing the frost of many AAP councilors, and after the Delhi assembly elections. According to the report, now the number of AAP and BJP councilors in the MCD house has become equal. Congress has 8 councilors. The situation is that if the floor test is done, then Congress and Independent Councilors can also coup.
The challenge before the Aam Aadmi Party is that the anti-party law does not apply in MCD like MPs and MLAs. In such a situation, even if a councilor goes to another party, he cannot be disqualified – and this is Arvind Kejriwal’s biggest challenge before the Aam Aadmi Party.
Who in MCD, how powerful, BJP or AAP
Before the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP had increased its number to 120, while the number of Aam Aadmi Party had come down to 121. After the election, the numbers of both parties have decreased. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also used to be a councilor before the election.
It is believed that the BJP has started preparing to ‘play’ in the mayor elections. Apart from councilors in the mayor election, 14 nominated MLAs, 7 Lok Sabha MPs and three Rajya Sabha MPs vote. The number of MLAs nominated in the assembly will also be in favor of BJP. Earlier BJP had only one nominated MLA. All the MPs of the Lok Sabha belong to the BJP, but the Aam Aadmi Party of Rajya Sabha.
Actually, the difficulties of AAP in MCD have now become almost the same as the previous Delhi government.
1. Just as the Aam Aadmi Party had an impact on the functioning due to the conflict between the Delhi government and the LG, similarly the Aam Aadmi Party has not been able to fulfill the election promises till now.
2. In the 2022 election, the Aam Aadmi Party gave 10 election guarantee, and due to that the BJP’s victory was confirmed. Eliminating three landfills of Delhi, regularizing contract workers and solving the problem of parking – all this is part of the electoral guarantee, but due to the AAP leaders getting caught in the legal digestion, and going to jail, there was chaos.
The BJP is countering the Aam Aadmi Party’s constitution to kill the constitution in its own way. Raja Iqbal Singh, Leader of Opposition in MCD, says, it is the responsibility of the ruling party, but only senior leaders of AAP obstruct the proceedings.
