The village journey of MF Hussain, spread over 14 feet canvas, is made from 13 magnificent panels which have diversity and rural life visions. This painting is considered to be the cornerstone of Hussain’s paintings.

Hussain made the painting in 1954 and the same year it left India. Ukraine -born Norway -based doctor Leon Ellius Volodarski bought it and it was not seen for a long time since then.

He was given many FIRs and threatening to kill him. Troubled by this, Hussain was forced to leave the country. He moved to Dubai and then stayed in New York, London. He died on 9 June 2011 at the age of 95.
