The complainant is a resident of Roshan Binder (48), Andheri (West), and runs a company that conducts collaboration with celebrities famous for programs and advertisements. In July 2024, he received a call from a person who claimed that he needs 25 artists to advertise the Energy Drink Brand. After the conversation, the accused asked to send an advance paying of Rs 10 lakh. A receipt of the payment was sent, but no money was actually transferred to the complainant’s account. Later, the accused asked Binder to bring the artists to a party in Dadar.
Around 100 artists including Arjun Bijlani, Abhishek Bajaj and Harsh Rajput attended this party, where 25 were selected for advertisement. His total pame was fixed at Rs 1.32 crore. After this, a picture of a check of Rs 15 lakh was sent to Binder as an assurance, which was promised that soon the money would be deposited in his account. Believing this claim, Roshan continued the advertisement shoot and the content was uploaded on social media, with the agreement that all payments would be made within 35 days. Content was also uploaded on social media platforms of different celebrities. The energy drink that was shot by these social media influencers and actors is named Sky 63.
In the program organized in Dadar, the artists were given two checks of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 90,000, but both were bounced. On contacting the accused, Roshan was told that according to local currency exchange, Rs 22.5 lakh has been transferred from Dubai. However, even after two days, no money came to his account.
Apart from this, checks of Rs 6.5 lakh for actress Tejashwi Prakash and Rs 1.25 lakh for Adrija Roy were also bounced. On October 18, 2024, the accused issued two more checks worth Rs 35 lakh and Rs 45 lakh, which promised that the amount would be deposited within two days. Trusting the promise, Binder paid an advance of Rs 35 lakh to actors Jai Bhanushali, Bhumika Gurung, Ankita Lokhande, Ayush Sharma, Sana Sultan, Kushal Tandon, Adrija Roy, Basin and Abhishek Bajaj. However, the check of 80 lakh rupees of the accused was also bounced, due to which Binder’s check could not be paid.
According to the complainant, in total, the artists were cheated by Rs 1.32 crore and Roshan’s private fund of Rs 16.91 lakh. Following his complaint, a case has been registered against five persons, including a resident of Madhya Pradesh. The Mumbai Police is currently investing this case.
