Political batting of DMK on delimitation pitch, will host the Mahajutan of opposition parties in Chennai today CM Stalin – Delimitation Meeting Chennai by Tamil Nadu CM MK STALIN ANTI HINDI POLITICS OF DMK South States Attending NTCPPL

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is ready to bat on the delimitation pitch. Based on the question of Tamil representation in the country’s politics, DMK leader Stalin is mobilizing the Chief Ministers of the states of South, they are also calling those states in the northern and western part of the country on their platforms who have allegedly expected to reduce their Lok Sabha seats from delimitation.

Today (Saturday 22 March), such states are going to have a big gathering opposing delimitation in Chennai. Apart from Stalin, the Chief Minister of three other states and many other leaders are attending this meeting.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin will do. This meeting will be the first meeting of Joint Action Committee – JAC. Its purpose is to oppose the proposed delimitation process and establish solidarity among the affected states. Stalin has taken the initiative to bring southern and some other states on one platform on this issue.

These states allegedly fear that their seats in the Lok Sabha will be reduced due to delimitation and the seats of Hindi speaking states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan will increase. Significantly, Stalin has raised this issue at this time when assembly elections are going to be held in Tamil Nadu next year. At the same time, Stalin has also opposed Hindi by opposing the policy of three languages.

Which leaders are coming to Chennai

Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and leaders of various political parties are participating in this meeting.

Kerala Chief Minister P Vijayan has reached Chennai to attend this meeting.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister of Telangana and Punjab and Deputy CM of Karnataka have also agreed to attend this meeting.

Apart from this, representatives of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) from West Bengal are coming to this meeting.

A big leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of Odisha is also coming.

A leader from the YSR Congress is reaching from Andhra Pradesh. But Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu is not coming to this meeting.

Significantly, Stalin invited Chief Ministers of 7 states for this meeting.

The DMK has entrusted its ministers and MPs for the reception and coordination of these guests. This meeting is being seen as a national conference in Chennai, in which there is a possibility of forming a major alliance of opposition parties.

Opposition of southern states over delimitation

Protest against delimitation of southern states (Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana) is mainly associated with the apprehension that this process may reduce their Lok Sabha seats.

Explain that delimitation is a process in which the boundaries of parliamentary and assembly constituencies are re -determined on the basis of population. It is usually done every 10 years. The delimitation is the process of re -determining the boundaries of Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies in India, so that every region can be represented and fair on the basis of population.

The next delimitation in India is likely to be in 2026, which will be based on the latest census data. But before that the government will have to conduct a census.

Please tell that MK Stalin had said that ‘a sword is hanging on the southern states of India in the name of delimitation. Our Lok Sabha seats are going to be cut and 8 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu will be reduced. However, Home Minister Amit Shah denied this claim of Stalin and said that the Lok Sabha seats of Tamil Nadu will not be reduced.

What is the doubt to South

‘Punishment’ for success in population control

The southern states have been successful in family planning and population control for a long time. For example, the population growth rate of states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala is much lower than the northern states (eg Uttar Pradesh, Bihar). DMK and South parties argue that if the delimitation is based on the current population, the seats in the southern states may decrease, while the seats in the northern states may increase.

Attack on federal structure

Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin called it “an open attack on federalism”. He says that this is not only an issue of parliamentary representation, but will also reduce the impact of states on education, health and economic policies. The southern states believe that their better socio-economic progress is being punished. However, the Center has assured the states of the south that their seats will not be reduced.

Let us know that at present, a total of 129 MPs from Tamil Nadu (39), Kerala (20), Karnataka (28), Andhra Pradesh (25), Telangana (17) are in Lok Sabha, while only 134 MPs from Uttar Pradesh (80), Bihar (40) and Jharkhand (14) are in Lok Sabha.

Right now Tamil Nadu has a population of about 7.6 crores and there are 39 Lok Sabha seats, while Uttar Pradesh has more than 22 crore and there are 80 seats. If the population is made scale, then the seats of Uttar Pradesh may increase in the new delimitation, but there is scope for increasing less seats in Tamil Nadu.

Significantly, the DMK has adopted a strategy to raise this issue in Parliament, protest and unite the affected states. Stalin has described it as not only Tamil Nadu, but also the issue of all the affected states (eg Odisha, West Bengal, Punjab). Their demand is that the seats should be kept stable for the next 30 years based on the population of 1971. In today’s meeting, this issue can be discussed deeply.
