Why did Mamta reject Stalin’s call

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin called a meeting in Chennai of Joint Action Committee on Delimitation on 22 March. The meeting was attended by many opposition leaders including Kerala Chief Minister P. Vijayan, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivkumar – but neither Mamata Banerjee came, nor sent any representative of her government or party TMC. Parties like Samajwadi Party and RJD were not included in the meeting. It felt like the DMK leader had not called the opposition parties of North India in the meeting. Stalin says that if there was delimitation on the basis of population, South India will suffer heavy losses according to both Lok Sabha and Assembly. Mamta Banerjee is with the opposition or not?

In such a situation, which side is Mamta Banerjee standing? In the presidential election, she is seen standing with the opposition, but the Vice President gets up in the election. She also makes distance even when the candidate is of Trinamool Congress.

Looking at the 1977 Lok Sabha elections, on an average there was an MP on a population of 10.11 lakh. Currently, West Bengal has 42 Lok Sabha seats, but now if everything is fixed according to a population of 15 lakhs, the number can also reach 66 – and if this base is formed with a population of 20 lakhs, then West Bengal can have 50 seats.

If the basis of delimitation is laid by a population of 20 lakhs, then the number of Lok Sabha seats will increase from 543 to 707. And, if this base is a population of 15 lakhs, then the Lok Sabha seats are likely to reach 942.

Mamta Banerjee has a good friendship

DMK leader Stalin is a tremendous supporter of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The remaining leaders of the opposition may say that the decision on the post of Prime Minister will be after the election results, but Stalin has been calling Rahul Gandhi the prime ministerial candidate.

Mamta Banerjee and MK Stalin’s friendship has been very good. At present, Rahul Gandhi and Congress enmity is also of Aam Aadmi Party, but Bhagwant Mann reaches Chennai, and Mamata Banerjee does not even send anyone.

Before the 2019 general election, when Mamata Banerjee called an opposition rally at the Brigade Parade Ground, MK Stalin also reached – and also gave a speech, but in Tamil itself.
