Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjeev Khanna has set up a three -member committee to investigate the allegations against Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Verma in the ‘Cash at Home’ case. This inquiry committee will be chaired by Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Jasit Sheel Nagu. The committee in the committee, Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Jasit GS Justice Anu Shivraman, Judge of Sandhavalia and Karnataka High Court, is also included.

In view of the investigation, the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court has been instructed not to hand over any judicial work to Justice Yashwant Verma until a decision comes in the case.

Let us know that during a firefighting operation at the official residence of Justice Yashwant Verma, it was claimed to get a large amount of cash. However, according to sources, Justice Verma was out of the city during this period.

After getting information about the incident, CJI Sanjeev Khanna called a collegium meeting, in which it was unanimously decided to transfer Justice Yashwant Verma to the Allahabad High Court. Justice Verma was earlier working in the Allahabad High Court till October 2021.

The Supreme Court clarified that Justice Verma’s transfer ‘Cash at Home’ is not related to the controversy. The apex court bluntly stated that the internal investigation is being done under the prescribed procedures and the transfer has no connection with this dispute. The Supreme Court issued a press note saying that rumors and misinformation are being spread about the cash received at the residence of Justice Yashwant Verma. The court has rejected all speculation.
