Imamoglu’s lawyer Mehmat Pahalwan said that there was no irregularity in the mayor’s diploma.

In a post on X on Tuesday, the lawyer said that the board of directors of the university did not have the right to take such a decision and described it as meaningless.

Imamoglu has been considered as a strong rival of Erdogan for a long time. Erdogan has ruled Turkey for more than two decades. If they want to contest again under the Constitution, then they will have to conduct elections ahead of scheduled time in 2028.
