Türkiye: Attack on Iraqi consulate in Istanbul, bike rider gunfire fired – Gunmen Fire at Iraqi Consulate in Istanbul No Casualties Reported NTC
Unidentified gunman opened fire at the Iraqi Consulate General in Istanbul, Turkey. The Turkish Foreign Ministry said that on Friday, a motorcycle -riding gunman fired eight bullets in front of the Iraqi consulate in Istanbul city of Türkiye. In this incident, Turkey said that there were no casualties.
Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Onku Keselli said in a statement, “This evening, a motorcycle-riding gunman fired at Iraq’s consulate in Istanbul. There was no loss of life and property in this incident. Necessary investigation is being done by our security units and identity efforts are on. Criminals will be brought in the dock of justice.”
Iraq’s Foreign Ministry said that the gunman used the AK-47 assault rifle before escaping. The purpose of the attack was not immediately clear. The ministry said in a statement, “Iraq appreciates the quick response of Turkish officials and the safety measures taken by them, and as per international agreements emphasize the importance of strengthening the necessary measures for the protection of diplomatic missions.”
